| Another event we celebrated in the last month was our 6th wedding anniversary. It is interesting to be back in West Point, the same place where we got married. 6 years and 2 kids ago, we started a journey that led to Alaska, Boston, and now back to NY. Our studio and pre-wedding shots were taken in Long Island and in a studio in Queens by a well-known studio (at least to Koreans in this area.) My friend had this pose and when I saw it, I knew that I wanted this too. The funny thing is, in every place I've lived since then, I have seen this same pose/picture hanging in friends' houses--a Korean-American friend in Fairbanks and one in Boston too. But it's such a beautiful picture, that I don't care. The one in our house is more vivid. Now the dress is not my own but one lent to me by the studio. It was fun to wear a different dress--I didn't want to ruin my own dress before the wedding. Here are some more shots: I happen to have a lot of wedding pictures in my house. One of my close friends here commented on this. All I can say is that I never felt more glamorous and never felt like I looked as glamorous as I did that week. Plus, we spent a lot of money on those pictures! The photographer that we went to for DS2's dohl pics used to work for the same company, which is one of the reasons why we went to him. All my studio shots were done in digital, but wedding shots were done in film. I don't know where the scans are, so I sifted through a few taken in digital by some friends. I designed my own wedding gown and picked out and purchased some of the silk and lace myself. The design was carried out by a seamstress in NYC by the same establishment who did one of my bridesmaids' wedding dress. It was very reasonable, even compared to store-bought dresses, so I was very happy with it. These digitals aren't the greatest resolution, so it's hard to see the details. I look forward to making new memories here in West Point.

| I am sorry for the long vacation from xanga. It has been a hectic 2.5 months! The movers came. We were in temporary lodging. We went to West Point where DH, my MIL, and DS stayed in the camper at a campground while I stayed in a friend's sister's apt. at West Point. Then we moved in to our house near West Point. Then I unpacked for a few days. Then we went back to Boston for DH's graduation. Then I went back to NY with my parents and Nathan who helped me unpack. DH had to entertain his side of the family and took DS with him. Then all the relatives left and I was still unpacking. Then we went to PA for a short trip. We had DS's 5 year birthday party and a month later, DS2's dohl jan chi--his first year birthday party. And add a bunch of organizing and unpacking and random events in between. In fact, in the last 2 months I have entertained more times and definitely more people in our NY house than in the 2 years I lived in Boston. It's definitely the fact that we have 3x more space! I still have 5% unpacking to go. It's the 5% that I can't ever seem to finish because I have 2 boys full time and one of them is crawling and cruising and puts things in his mouth all the time. I have found: part of a pencil eraser, a toenail clipping (not mine!), a dead leaf (today), scotch tape, and more in his mouth. Having a 5 year old does not help since he leaves small things everywhere and DS2 puts even more things in his mouth than DS1 did, which I find hard to believe but it's true! He's swallowed a plastic sticker and more that we couldn't fish out in time. It keeps me on my toes. Well, I'll update more later but I thought I would at least post a few of DS2's dohl pictures that we took at a professional studio. I didn't feel like trying to take them myself this time.

| The movers come in 2 days. Aaaaagh! Here are some pics, mostly going backwards through time but not necessarily in the right order. DS wore this Babar shirt when he was 15 months old. DS2 is 9 months old and fits in it fine :)
DS2's 2nd day on the swing. I didn't know he had already tried it the day before with Daddy until DS told me. I guess there should be some "first" moments that Daddy gets to experience, but I wanted to be there with the camera for it.
I'll do a post on this sculpture park later, but I could kick myself for not having gone sooner. I had no idea how much I would love it and had no idea that it was free for military and had no idea that it is less than 10 minutes away, on the way to DS's preschool! I've been twice already in April and plan to go again before I leave.
Just some cutie patootie shots.
Kimball Farms is the nicest miniature golf place I've been to or seen. I'll post more shots later.
This is not a picturesque view, but I just wanted to show how I golfed--I managed to get 3 hole-in-ones. Although, I did manage to land my ball in the water at least once...
More cute brother shots. I hope they get along when they are older too.
Easter pics:
Dyeing eggs before Easter:
I had an Easter Egg Hunt in DS's room. Plastic eggs filled with Legos were a great surprise. Some had candy, but most had legos.
My next door neighbors are moving a few weeks after we are. That leaves our neighbor at the far end. She is pregnant with #8!
Patriot's Day is a big deal over here. This was at Minuteman National Park which is next to the base.
DS, DS2, and I went to a Seder meal at the chapel. Half of the attendees were Christian and were there to learn more about the Passover meal. It was very informative although DS didn't think so. And we sang some Jewish songs; one was to the tune of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." Interesting. Here DS is "stealing" the matzah that is wrapped up while the Rabbi wasn't looking. He got a prize for this. He shared prizes with the 2 other kids standing next to him. The girl claimed that she got it about the same time as DS. Well, she goaded DS into doing it and then immediately grabbed it from him after he "stole" it. The proof is in the picture. It's a good thing that DS didn't care. DS won a blow-up matzah ball. The girl offered the other prize to him in case he wanted to trade. DS preferred to have his matzah ball rather than the finger puppets representing the ten plagues that God afflicted on the Egyptians! Hahaha-I didn't get a good look at them but I think it would be interesting to see the representations for boils, blood in the water, death of the firstborn, and darkness! I remember seeing some words on the puppets so maybe they are cute finger puppets the names of the plague on each one. I'll have to look it up on the web.
I'll post more pics when I'm all moved in. Maybe mid-June I'll be able to post pics again? I can't believe we are moving. So many things on my list of the things to go see, do, and taste, that I won't be able to! | | |
| I read my last post and noticed a few grammatical errors. Sorry. I am thinking through a fog of exhaustion these days as I get ready to move. Actually, I think the fog hasn't really lifted since I first got pregnant with my first child--haha. Anyway, I did want to say that DH thinks it's strange that I have a fan mentality. I'm not sure exactly why he thinks I do. I think it's more of a Korean expression that he is translating to English. I think it's partly from watching shows like AI and knowing who the competitors are and what their stories are. But I also think b/c I know a few people who may show up on TV or the big screen and I get excited to see them. Like John Cho, the one who plays the young Sulu--I know him from college but it's been that long since I've seen him, although we do have mutual friends. His girlfriend at the time set me up with his best friend for a semi-formal dance (on a boat.) He and his best friend came up for the weekend (John had not yet transferred to Cal) and we also went on a double date the next day.Sure, he might not remember me, but he might if I gave him the context, and it's kind of surreal and cool to see him up on the big screen just like it is when I see my cousin on TV (although it's only been a few times since I don't know what commercials or shows she's going to be on in general.) The last time I saw him was at the end of my senior year.
Anyway, the movers come in 9 or 10 days, depending on when they want to come, I guess. We are moving part of our stuff ourselves, but most of it will be moved by the movers. There are certain things I want to pack up myself but the closer the day comes, the more I think I'll just gamble on them being really good packers and not bother to do things like seal all my leakable items in plastic bags. We'll see.
DS2 just had his 9 month appointment a couple days ago. He's 29.25 inches (90th percentile) and 20 lbs. 10.5 oz (55th percentile.) I think he dropped on his weight curve b/c he's been teething a ton. After the last 3 teeth that came in, there were about 2 days when he seemed to be OK, but then he started teething again and 2 more finally came in. He hasn't been nursing or eating well for a while b/c of them but his nursing has picked up in the last 2 weeks although he hasn't really wanted to eat. Plus he's increasing activity like rolling around and trying to crawl (although he hasn't yet.) He's really healthy, but I have to watch his weight just in case. His eczema doesn't seem to be improving but I dont' think it's related to food. At least, I hope not. He is also not sleeping well (b/c of his teeth probably) so I'm not sleeping well. Now he has more teeth coming in. He already has 8 and he just turned 9 months old!
DS is still allergic to peanuts and some tree nuts. This is not good since if they don't outgrow it at this age, it's not hopeful that he'll ever outgrow it.
We have a crazy schedule coming up. Not looking forward to it.

| Hello. My name is Jae Rin and I am a Trekker. As part of my Mother's Day gift, DH took me to see Star Trek this afternoon. It was a total surprise. We dropped off our kids with friends for a playdate. We were supposed to be gone for only half an hour to make an appearance at DH's professor's bbq and then go back to hang out. In the car, he gave me a card and inside were 2 movie tickets to see a matinee of the new Star Trek movie. It rocked!!! I was so glad to see it on opening day and in the theater! It was great and there were several times I wanted to clap or cheer or do something of the sort, but my husband is not as enthusiastic about ST as I am. In fact, it baffles him that I like it so much. It baffles me that he doesn't like it as much as me. How could you not like all of them, especially TNG? I'm not as into TOS, but I still like some of the episodes, and I do like a lot of the movies. I have a lot of guy friends who think it is cool that I really like all the ST series, but my own hubby thinks I am a geek :) He took me to the afternoon showing b/c he was afraid I would dress up. For the record, I have NEVER dressed up as a ST character. Anyway, at the very end of the movie, I did clap and DH was mortified and put his hands over mine. Another guy next to me clapped too but when DH muffled my claps, he stopped, and when I managed to pull my hands out again and clap again, DH literally ran out of the theater. It was very amusing but I had to chase him. I would have preferred an evening show since the audience would probably be more enthusiastic, but that would have been too difficult to arrange b/c of the baby. It was also great to see an aquaintance of mine play Sulu. Very cool. The best mother's day gift yet! And a special thanks goes out to my friends who took care of my 2 sons while, one of whom cried a lot (the baby) while we were gone! (and they have 3 kids of their own, the youngest being only 3 months older than DS2!) The movers come in 10 days--aaaagh!
